Hydraulic Press monitors critical force/position data.

Press Release Summary:

C-frame 20-ton hydraulic press includes Assembly Monitoring System. System monitors force and position sensors mounted in press to measure key attributes of each assembly produced. Compared to ideal specifications, assembly's status is determined within microseconds; system sends pass/fail output signal; and identifies any attribute that is different from ideal. System uses single channel of included PC with 16-channel capability.

Original Press Release:

Assembly Press Monitors Critical Force/Position Data

Nashua NH. Greenerd recently delivered a 20-ton C-frame hydraulic press for interference-fit assembly of automotive components. The press included an Assembly Monitoring System, with signature monitoring of each assembly produced.

This Assembly Monitoring System enables the user to create a "taught master" as the standard for acceptance. The system monitors both the force and position sensors mounted in the press, to measure the key attributes of each assembly produced. As they are measured, these attributes are compared to those of the "taught master". Within microseconds, the status of the assembly is determined, the system sends a pass/fail output signal, and identifies any attribute that is different from the "taught master". This customer time/date stamps each assembly so its signature can be retrieved at any time in the future, for failure analysis for example.

The System includes a PC with Windows based software. This application uses only one channel, but the System has 16-channel capability.

Greenerd was founded in New England in 1883. and since 1934 has produced thousands of hydraulic presses designed to stand up to the rigors of 3-shift manufacturing.
