Penn-Union Corp. Announces Availability of Newly Redesigned TDY Tools
Edinboro, PA - PENN-UNION CORP. announces the availability of its newly redesigned TDY-1 and TDY-U hydraulic hand tools. The highly successful patented design of the U.S.A. built TDY tools is the result of the features requested most often by contractors, utilities and industrial accounts.
Features include a unique pressure selection control conveniently located on the tool handle which permits the tool to crimp a wide variety of connector styles and sizes. The TDY tools have a shape which results in a more traditional crimp that surrounds the connector. The outcome is an outstanding connection in both appearance and performance.
The TDY tool head rotates 180 degrees for easy operation in confined work areas. The wide, hinged tool head allows for easy insertion and removal of butt splices up to 750 MCM. Adaptor model number CUAD-1000F is available for connectors up to 1000 MCM copper.
The two speed hydraulic pump unit rapidly advances the ram into contact with the connector and then automatically shifts into the crimping mode to complete the connection. The ram is retracted by pulling down on the trigger release and completing another short stroke. This eliminates the need for mechanical rapid ram advance adjustment.
Selected, standard PENN-UNION CORP. color coded connectors have range-taking ULTRA-CRIMP7 capability when properly crimped with TDY tooling. This is an important consideration which allows a relatively few standard connector sizes to be used in a wide range of conductor sizes. Plus it also permits the use of standard butt splice connectors as reducers.
The lightweight, easy to use TDY tools have a conductor range of #4 AWG to 750 MCM copper and #4 AWG to 1000 MCM aluminum. The variable force up to 14 tons provides a reliable crimp connection which meets and exceeds UL and CSA requirements.
