New Drever Atmosphere Humidity Regulator Controls Surface Oxides for Extended Furnace Belt Life, Improved Product Quality

The new Drever Atmosphere Humidity Regulator that extends furnace belt life and prevents the adherence of stainless steel tubes to each other in heat processing operations where cryogenically produced gases are employed is now available from THE DREVER GROUP, Huntingdon Valley, PA, a leading force in heat processing equipment. This new low-cost regulator can be easily installed in the atmosphere piping of existing furnaces.

Cryogenic gases have lower dew points (-70°C) than locally generated process gases such as endothermic and dissociated ammonia. With the lower dew point, surface oxides are reduced causing mass transfer where stainless steel contacts stainless steel. Eventually, the build-up of hardened belt material on the furnace hearth cuts through the furnace belt. Also, the repeated forming and breaking of bonds weakens the belt as it cycles through the furnace. Moreover, stainless steel tubes have been found to stick to each other as well as the belt causing disfigurement of the tube surface. The low-cost Drever Atmosphere Humidity Regulator has been shown to extend belt life by 33% in cryogenic process operations.
