New Version of Rockwell Software RSView Enterprise Series(TM) Provides New Platform Offerings, Maximizes System Availability and Eases Regulatory Compliance

Latest version of industry-leading HMI software improves productivity through redundancy and information collaboration through the FactoryTalk platform

MILWAUKEE, April 14, 2003 - Rockwell Automation has released a new version of its Rockwell Software RSView Enterprise Series(TM) human machine interface (HMI) software family to help ensure system availability and ease regulatory compliance. The latest version of RSView Enterprise Series - which includes RSView Supervisory Edition(TM), RSView Machine Edition(TM) and the RSView Studio(TM) PC-based development tool - supports improved productivity through redundancy and information collaboration enabled by FactoryTalk(TM).

"RSView Enterprise Series saves users time in configuration and development and provides scalability from a single station to an enterprise environment. The common design environment allows developers to migrate and re-use projects, tools and graphics between machine- and supervisory-level platforms," said Mark Hobbs, RSView(TM) product marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. "And with the latest version, we've provided an even more scalable solution with new offerings."

RSView Enterprise Series 3.0 provides new options including support for Allen-Bradley PanelView(TM) Plus operator interface and Allen-Bradley® VersaView(TM) CE industrial computers. RSView SE Station provides additional options for users who would like the full-featured RSView Supervisory Edition environment with standalone functionality for single lines or processes.

RSView Studio can be used to import PanelView applications into RSView Machine Edition or import RSView(TM)32 applications into RSView Supervisory Edition - protecting existing HMI development investments.

FactoryTalk-Enabled
RSView Enterprise Series supports FactoryTalk components that allow control information to be shared from sensor to boardroom. RSView Machine Edition, like RSView Supervisory Edition, is now FactoryTalk-enabled to provide fast, reliable access to real-time manufacturing information.

Maximum System Availability
RSView Supervisory Edition 3.0 provides built-in redundancy features to help critical data remain available to clients, even during server disruptions. The features are seamless to operators and can decrease downtime and operators' interruption.

System-Wide Audit Capabilities
Traditional components in a software system produce individual operator and system activity reports. Matching the actions recorded by a software package to what actually happened in the system has been historically difficult. FactoryTalk Diagnostics allows users to collect, store and examine system activity (such as RSView SE and RSView ME, and RSLogix(TM) activities) in one centralized location. This ability can simplify the documenting process for users trying to comply with government regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11.

RSView Enterprise Series 3.0 is available as a stand-alone product or, to reduce the time spent configuring a combined hardware/software solution, it is also available pre-installed on VersaView industrial computers and monitors. Using Rockwell Software® and Allen-Bradley products together provides users with a single source for maintenance and troubleshooting, helping to eliminate questions or conflicts regarding product responsibility.
