Anya Ayoung Chee wins HP and Intel technology to power her emerging design business

NEW YORK - HP today announced that designer Anya Ayoung Chee, winner of the HP and Intel design challenge, was named the overall winner of season nine of Lifetime‟s hit-series "Project Runway," and will take home a $50,000 technology suite.

With this prize, Ayoung Chee will be equipped with HP technology to power her vision and translate her talent into a thriving fashion business.

"Participating in 'Project Runway' has been a transformative experience for me," said Ayoung Chee. "Throughout the season I‟ve had the opportunity to take my designs to the next level creatively and technically. With this HP technology suite, I have the tools I need to enter this next stage as a designer, elevating my business and sharing designs on an international scale."

"Project Runway" season nine designers were equipped with the latest HP EliteBook Tablet PC notebooks available with second-generation Intel® Core(TM) i7 processors to explore new ideas and create designs in unlimited colors and styles. Additionally, designers used HP TouchSmart desktop PCs to create custom fabrics using touch-enabled software.

"The use of HP technology on Project Runway has ushered in a series of firsts for the show, starting with the use of digital sketchpads in season seven," said Meryl Poster, president, Television, The Weinstein Company. "This season HP and Project Runway continued to push the boundaries of creativity with the first-ever challenge that tasked designers with creating custom textiles as well as a video to accompany their runway production. The innovative designs that result from the continued integration of technology and fashion on Project Runway are what keeps our fans coming back year after
year."

"It‟s been inspiring to see designers, like Anya, for a third season use HP technology to transform their visions into stunning pieces and, for the first time, comprehensive runway productions," said Page Murray, vice president, Integrated Marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. "HP is awarding Anya with technology to take her design skills to the next level and keep her business on the cutting edge."

HP has been on the forefront of fashion and technology since its unveiling of the HP Mini Vivienne Tam "digital clutch" notebook PC, followed by relationships with other fashion trendsetters, such as "Project Runway" and "Sex and the City 2."
