Howell Tractor Commits to Line of Sennebogen Green Line Material Handlers

Gary, IN - When Tom Ellis, General Manager of Howell Tractor in Gary, IN, heard whisperings that the SENNEBOGEN green line material handlers may be obtainable, he didn't waste any time.

"I became familiar with SENNEBOGEN green machines early on in my career and when I heard that the line might be available to us here at Howell Tractor, I immediately got the ball rolling," said Ellis.

Howell Tractor and Equipment is a heavy construction and earth-moving equipment dealer serving northern Illinois from stores in Elk Grove Village and Peru and serving northwestern Indiana from Gary.

Howell provides machine sales and rentals, as well as parts and service for the construction, industrial, paving and aggregate industries. With the newly acquired SENNEBOGEN green line material handlers, Ellis knew that Howell's extensive product line which also includes Kawasaki loaders, Gehl skid steers, was the perfect match to the SENNEBOGEN machines and would give him more opportunity to be in front of his customers.

SENNEBOGEN America has built its reputation by supplying dealers like Howell Tractor the newest and most efficient scrap handling machinery available in today's competitive market place.

Howell Tractor's confidence in the SENNEBOGEN green line material handlers showed in the company's first order last fall: a total of five machines.

"We are very enthusiastic about being able to offer our clients the SENNEBOGEN name and I think our order of five machines is pretty solid proof of that enthusiasm," said Ellis.

"We pride ourselves in our commitment to constructing quality machines but that commitment to quality doesn't end there," said Constantino Lannes, President of SENNEBOGEN America.

"Each and every dealer that joins the SENNEBOGEN family knows that our support and commitment to our product never falters. That's been the philosophy of the SENNEBOGEN family since 1952."

The dedication SENNEBOGEN pledges to its products and to all of its dealers often give the green machines the edge over the competition.

The First Machine - Sold Before It Landed

In fact, Howell Tractor's new relationship with SENNEBOGEN paid off rather quickly when the first machine, the 850 M, sold before it even hit the yard in Gary.
"It's the simplicity of the engineering and design that makes SENNEBOGEN machines just ideal machines for any application where it fits," said Ellis, explaining how Howell Tractors could so quickly turnaround the 850 M.

"These are not complex machines. They're easy to troubleshoot and you don't need endless computer training," he said.

The 850 M was sold to a nearby Tube City location in Gary, Indiana. Tube City is a full service organization offering services in scrap usage and by-product recycling to the steel industry, helping mills and foundries realize the optimum value from scrap recycling. SENNEBOGEN has a familiar, solid history with Tube City in Gary. It was this Tube City location that SENNEBOGEN delivered its first ever 870 M machine to in 2001.

To continue its commitment to its customers, Howell Tractor has also put in a full order of parts and products to offer clients. Howell's Service Department with 23 people covering all three locations gives both SENNEBOGEN and Howell sales staff more than a competitive edge in the important and growing sector of northwestern Indiana and northern half of Illinois. According to Ellis, many of their clients are operations that work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. "This leaves little room for anything other than stellar service. Service is one of those value-added elements that a dealer can bring to the table," said Ellis, "And that's why our company is so committed to being service-driven. Offering a full line of parts and service to our clients means that they aren't going to be without help when they need us most. Our commitment to them is ongoing."

Howell Tractor has been more than pleased with the growing relationship between the company and SENNEBOGEN. "The training and support to our sales and service staff has been phenomenal," said Ellis. "Training is critical and if we can't offer our clients the best possible service we couldn't stand by our motto of, Helping to build America since 1943 and into tomorrow."

Howell Tractor began as a family business more than 60 years ago. Since then Howell Tractor has evolved but has never forgotten its humble, family-oriented philosophy. Howell Tractor is part of the Lanco Group of Companies, another business built on the same philosophies.
