CAS DataLoggers Posts New Video Walkthrough for Electrocorder EC-1V
CHESTERLAND OH — At CAS DataLoggers we often receive calls from customers who need to calibrate their own data loggers, so we have added a new video to our website showing how to do this with our popular Electrocorder Single Phase Voltage Data Loggers. This useful product enables users to quickly find voltage problems (such as UPS power drops) for further troubleshooting. Check out this short tutorial video at http://www.dataloggerinc.com/content/support/technical_videos/electrocorder_technical_videos/524/calibration_of_an_ec-1v_electrocorder/.
The new video shows users how to calibrate an EC-1V at 230Vac, 50Hz. The process involves checking the voltage on a calibrated meter, connecting the datalogger to a PC, and using the free Electrosoft software included with the logger. Users open the software's Calibration Wizard to select frequency and enter the calibration voltage. After plugging the logger back into the voltage source, users just click on 'Calibrate Logger' and can view the new calibration values for the logger onscreen. Logger entries can also be saved using the Calibration Manager. Electrosoft will also generate a Calibration Report which summarizes the logger details and the new calibration values, which can be printed out or exported to .pdf.
Commonly used for pre- and post-installation analysis of voltage variations on site, the Single Phase 300Vac datalogger records voltage and saves 3 quantities for each channel at the end of each averaging period: the True RMS average, the Max, and the Min. This means that it records all the highs and lows of one cycle or longer; the voltage logger will store the average voltage over the period chosen. The devices stores all this timestamped information in its non-volatile memory. The data logger is part of a kit including a carrying case, free Windows software, and an RS- 232 serial lead. All this is provided at a low price that can fit into even a modest budget.
Unlike other datalogger brands, Electrocorder uses a constant sampling technique to sample every channel 16 times per cycle (16ms at 60Hz and 20ms at 50Hz), and users can choose the recording duration from once a second to once an hour. Recorded data is uploaded to a PC for analysis with the supplied Electrosoft software included with all Electrocorder loggers. Electrosoft allows you to graph, export and printout data files while also plotting energy costs and savings using voltage optimization methods.
