TruSeal Introduces New Hot-Melt Butyl Sealant Family

Edge Therm(TM) THM 3000 first addition to user-friendly, gun grade sealants

Beachwood, OH - June 23, 2003 - TruSeal Technologies, Inc., a world leader in flexible spacer systems for insulating glass (IG), has introduced a new family of hot-melt butyl and polyisobutylene (PIB) IG sealants named EdgeTherm(TM). The new product family features high-performance, gun grade IG sealants for manufacturing flexibility.

The first rollout in the EdgeTherm line is THM 3000 Hot-Melt Butyl, a one-component, 100 percent solids sealant system specifically developed for edge sealing IG units. EdgeTherm THM 3000 offers lower viscosity, anti-sag and easier gunning characteristics at lower temperatures compared to other hot-melt butyls. The product exhibits the best properties of hot-melt butyl systems: no mixing, minimal waste, fast setting, quick handling of finished IG units and outstanding adhesion to glass and metal substrates typically used in IG fabrication.

EdgeTherm THM 3000 is ideal for hand gunning applications and for use on automated dual seal applicators. It is suited for in-house sealing of IG units for residential windows, where glazing material and practices are easily controlled. TruSeal recommends the avoidance of contact between the EdgeTherm THM 3000 sealant and any solvent or oil containing glazing compound. For additional recommendations on specific glazing designs or use of glazing compounds, contact TruSeal's Technical Service Department.

Available in black and gray, EdgeTherm THM 3000 meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM E773/774 (U.S.) and CAN/CGSB-12.8 (Canada). The product is available in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon steel drums.

TruSeal will continue to add new products under the EdgeTherm brand with related advantages and performance characteristics.
