VMIC Introduces High Performance Single-Channel Ultra160 SCSI Host Bus Adapter

Providing Data Transfer Rates of up to 160 Mbyte/s

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (November 15, 2002). VMIC introduces the VMIPMC-5795, a single-channel Ultra160 SCSI host bus adapter (HBA) in PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) form factor. The highly integrated design of the VMIPMC-5795 promotes high reliability, low power consumption and low cost. The VMIPMC-5795 leverages the LSI53C1000R controller and is designed to operate in 32-bit/33 MHz or 64-bit/66 MHz PCI environments to achieve data transfer rates of up to 160 Mbyte/s. In addition, this HBA includes an easy-to-use on-board configuration utility, which allows the viewing and changing of default configuration settings for the host adapter and SCSI devices.

The VMIPMC-5795 has an integrated low voltage differential (LVD) link transceiver supporting both LVD and single-ended (SE) signals with no external transceivers required. The 8 Kbyte of internal RAM for SCRIPTS instruction storage allows all accesses to remain internal, reducing the time spent on the PCI bus. A 944 byte DMA FIFO allows the device to efficiently burst up to 512 bytes across the PCI bus.

VMIPMC-5795 Features:

o 64-bit, 33/66 MHz PCI interface
o Data transfer rates up to 160 Mbyte/s
o 64-bit addressing supported through dual address cycle (DAC)
o Compliant with PCI 2.2, PCI Power Management 1.1, and PC99
