Horton Advantage On/Off Fan Drives Deliver in Two-Year Test

Zeitner & Sons logs more than 1.5 million miles of flawless performance

ROSEVILLE, Min. - For the past two years, Zeitner & Sons logged almost 1.5 million miles on five trucks equipped with Horton's DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drives. The trucks included four Kenworth T2000s and one T600 model-all with Cummins ISX engines.

Zeitner & Sons, a leading Midwest refrigerated-truckload carrier, agreed to test the DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drive after having some issues with the previous on/off fan drive.

"We've used Horton products for the entire 30 years we've been in business, and the issue we experienced several years ago was the first significant one we'd had," says Mel Zeitner, fleet manager with Zeitner & Sons. "We identified the problem and Horton provided us with rebuild kits. Later, Horton further improved the product-now called the DM Advantage(TM)-and asked us to test it. The fan drive performed perfectly in more than a million and a half accumulated miles on five trucks. It met our expectations of no problems or surprises. Nobody else has a better product-I wouldn't want to try another product."

"DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drives have been field-tested on more than 340 trucks driven an accumulated 73 million miles to date with flawless performance," according to Jeff Lindgren, senior vice president, sales and marketing at Horton, Inc. "The DM Advantage features a premium sheave bearing with 14 rolling elements per row [versus 10 in the previous product], highly heat-resistant grease and a high contact angle to withstand more thrust load, an improved air cartridge and a long-wearing friction liner."

"We're very pleased to provide this advanced on/off fan drive for the highest-heat under-hood conditions. The evolution of the components in this product and our 2009 3-year/349,804-mile limited-warranty program for on-highway vehicles demonstrate Horton's commitment to customer service and continuous improvement."

Horton DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drives are spring-engaged and air-disengaged for maximum efficiency. The fan drives feature lighter weight and higher torque for turning larger fans. DM Advantage Fan Drives are designed to keep engine coolant at optimum temperatures, improve engine performance, save fuel and reduce operating noise.
