Original Press Release:

Cincinnati Machine Introduces a New Line of Multi-Tasking Machines: H5 GEMINEX(TM) For Machining and Turning Medium, Large Parts

CINCINNATI, OH (March 12, 2003) - Manufacturers looking to replace under utilized VTLs or to reduce set up and fixture costs will find an affordable solution in Cincinnati Machine's multi-tasking H5 GEMINEX machine series, its newest generation H5, 5-axis horizontal machining centers. Both affordable and reliable, the H5 GEMINEX line is designed to maximize productivity by combining 4- and 5-axis machining along with unique turning capabilities, giving customers added flexibility using standard equipment.

The H5 GEMINEX machining centers are available in a variety of sizes to accommodate parts 50 inches in diameter and larger. GEMINEX' multi-tasking processing capabilities eliminate additional set-ups, reducing manufacturing costs while improving accuracy. Machining in a single set-up can dramatically reduce burden rates by eliminating costly first and subsequent operations typically performed on higher-priced large vertical turning lathes.

The H5 GEMINEX machines feature a new generation linear motor rotary table available in high torque (300 rpm) or high speed (700 rpm) models which provide the torque demanded to machine hard metals and aluminum. The linear motor table enables the machine to perform both conventional mill-turning as well as single point turning requiring the higher surface speeds.

Utilization of a linear motor rather than traditional mechanical table components dramatically improves the life cycle of the table while minimizing downtime for normal maintenance and repairs. With superior ACC/DEC rates, the linear motor table enhances overall performance while providing excellent reliability due to a minimal number of components inherent in the design of the new linear motor table.

Featuring a full 180° sweep tilt A-axis cutting tool spindle, the H5 GEMINEX offers added machine range and versatility for 4- and 5-sided machining capability. Spindles are available in high-torque or high-speed models ranging from 6,000 to 24,000 rpm. Options for tooling include a simultaneous fit CAT 50 taper for added rigidity in heavy turning applications.

All GEMINEX models offer palletized material handling and a choice of square, round and rectangular pallets in sizes ranging from 800 to 1500mm. These machines also feature patented 5-axis vector tool point cycles and 5-axis tool length/diameter compensation. The entire line of H5 GEMINEX machining centers are CINCRON® cell ready.
