Honeywell's Experion R400 Wins Control Engineering's 2011 Engineers' Choice Award

Newest Version of Experion PKS Protects Investments and Reduces Total Cost of Ownership by up to 50 Percent

PHOENIX, Feb. 23, 2011 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that its Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) R400 control and automation platform has been awarded the Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice Award in the process control systems category. Chosen by the publication's print and online subscribers, the Engineers' Choice Awards are given to the manufacturing industries' best new control, instrumentation and automation products. The award will be presented at the 2011 Manufacturing/Automation Summit in Chicago on March 20, 2011.

Experion tightly integrates plant subsystems - including process control, safety instrumented systems, security and advanced control. Released in June 2010, Experion R400's enhancements help process manufacturers cost effectively manage their automation and control systems in the face of constantly evolving technology. Features such as extended lifecycle support, flexible on-process migration paths, virtualization and easier installation and migration allow facilities to focus on improving business with open systems instead of managing the challenges with systems themselves.

"Process manufacturers often feel like they're trying to play catch-up with the latest technology," said Scott Hillman, global solutions director, Honeywell. "The recognition that Experion R400 has received is a true testament to the modular, future-proofing capabilities of Experion PKS and its ability to protect our customers' investments. This means that Experion R400 offers the lowest total cost of ownership of any system available."

Another unique characteristic of Experion R400 is its integrated turbine control system that allows power generators to more tightly integrate boilers and turbines. This approach helps plants produce energy more efficiently by maximizing demand swings while reducing fuel consumption and production costs. Experion R400 also provides an integrated platform for DCS, SCADA and safety functions, as well as wireless, terminal automation and other applications.
