Honeywell Invests in the Future of Scottish Engineering

Banff and Buchan College Upgrades Training Facilities With Experion PKS

ABERDEEN, UK - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that it is supporting educational development at Banff and Buchan College, Fraserburgh, Scotland, by upgrading the institution's legacy training systems to Honeywell's most advanced platform, the Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS), as part of the college's redevelopment program.

Banff and Buchan College has undergone a major redevelopment process, with nearly three-quarters of the campus being reconstructed. As part of this, Honeywell's modernization of the process automation technology will enable the college to train future engineers and equip them with the experience and skills necessary to operate the latest software and systems available to the oil and gas industry. In celebration of the extensive redevelopment of the college, Alex Salmond MSP, First Minister of Scotland, presided over a dedicated opening ceremony held at Banff and Buchan College on 2nd March, 2012.

"We're extremely excited to announce the re-opening of the college with the most advanced technology available for our students' development. Through partnership with Honeywell, we are able to achieve our goal to fully prepare our technology students for real-world scenarios and immediate placement in the oil and gas industry." said Paul Sherrington, Principal, Banff and Buchan College.

As Banff and Buchan College officials planned for their re-build, Honeywell offered to modernize their training system to Experion® PKS with a C300 Controller. The advanced process control system was built into an easily transportable case to allow flexible tutoring with the system throughout the college. The local engineering experts from the Honeywell Aberdeen branch worked closely with college staff to develop hands-on training and system configuration. They will also continue to support the college throughout the lifecycle of the equipment.

"Aberdeen is the oil and gas hub of western Europe, so it is vital that industry stakeholders invest in the development of local process engineering talent," said Jon Lippin, vice president and general manager, lifecycle solutions and services at Honeywell Process Solutions. "A skilled workforce is vital to the success and longevity of the oil and gas industry. Working closely with Banff and Buchan College, we can build a training curriculum with the latest process control technology to give students the kills and expertise they need to succeed in the real world."
