Home Game for the T&M Expert: Rohde & Schwarz Presents Its Product Portfolio at Electronica 2014

When electronica 2014 opens its doors to an international audience in Munich this November, Rohde Schwarz will naturally be there. The Munich-based company is using the home advantage to showcase its extensive portfolio of test and measurement equipment.

Munich - In hall A1, at booth 307, visitors to electronica have an excellent opportunity to see all the TM highlights from Rohde & Schwarz - from general-purpose to high-end measuring instruments, for the lab and the production line.

R&S SGT100A and R&S FPS: compact instruments for fast RF component testing

High measurement speeds are crucial for production testing of wireless communications components. Rohde & Schwarz has developed two new instruments that deliver the required speed. The R&S SGT100A is the smallest and fastest vector signal generator up to 6 GHz. It includes an integrated baseband generator with up to 160 MHz bandwidth. The compact R&S FPS signal and spectrum analyzer has an upper frequency limit of 4, 7, 13, 30 or 40 GHz and an analysis bandwidth up to 160 MHz. It offers test applications for all of the key mobile and wireless standards. The R&S SGT100A and R&S FPS can be combined to generate and demodulate even IEEE 802.11ac WLAN signals. Together, they achieve extremely short measurement times when testing RF components such as the output amplifiers used in mobile phones.

R&S HMO1002: mixed signal oscilloscope with exceptional features

Key features of the new entry-level R&S HMO1002 mixed signal oscilloscope from Rohde & Schwarz include fanless operation, 1 MPts memory depth and 1 Gsample/s sampling rate in realtime. With a vertical sensitivity of 1 mV/div and integrated FFT with 128k test points, the oscilloscope features capabilities that far exceed the standard for this price class. The R&S HMO1002 offers users many highly practical features, such as the pattern generator for embedded developers, the integrated digital voltmeter for service and maintenance technicians, and special functions for the education sector.

Continually growing oscilloscope portfolio: new applications

With a whole set of new trigger and decoding options for its oscilloscope families, Rohde & Schwarz helps diverse user groups verify, test and debug their designs. For users in the A&D sector, the R&S RTM, R&S RTE and R&S RTO oscilloscopes offer options for the MIL1553 and ARINC protocols. For developers of mobile communications applications and embedded designs, Rohde & Schwarz has extended the range of applications of its R&S RTO high-performance oscilloscopes to include two new options for analyzing MIPI-RFFE, USB 1.0/1.1 and 2.0 interfaces. Users in the automotive sector benefit from the extended conformance tests now available with the BroadR-Reach option. Rohde & Schwarz also has a new option that extends the maximum memory depth of the R&S RTM bench oscilloscope to an unrivaled 460 Msample per channel. The deep, segmented memory is extremely useful for seamless analysis of data sequences with long idle phases, such as pulsed signals and data packets on serial I²C buses. http://www.rohde-schwarz.com/ad/Press/scope_portfolio

R&S ZND: affordable VNA for uni- and bidirectional measurements

Users in RF component production have to measure many S parameters on antennas and filters with high throughput. Rohde & Schwarz developed the R&S ZND for this testing requirement - an attractively priced vector network analyzer that is easy to operate. The R&S ZND comes with two test ports, and the basic version is capable of performing unidirectional measurements from 100 kHz to 4.5 GHz. It can be easily upgraded with options, for example, to extend the frequency range to 8.5 GHz or to perform bidirectional measurements up to 4.5 GHz or 8.5 GHz. The R&S ZND is perfect for production line measurements such as characterization of passive mobile phone components. The analyzer's large 30.7 cm (12.1") touchscreen and intuitive user interface makes it easy to configure measurements and analyze results.

R&S CMA180: state-of-the-art digital measurement technology for testing analog radios

Rohde & Schwarz designed the R&S CMA180 radio test set especially for manufacturing and maintaining analog radios in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 3 GHz. Equipped with a touchscreen for easy operation, the new tester can generate test signals up to 20 MHz bandwidth and process high input power levels up to 150 W. The test signals are software-generated with the integrated ARB generator. The large touchscreen and straightforward menu make the R&S CMA180 very easy and fast to operate. http://www.rohde-schwarz.com/ad/press/cma180

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, representatives from the Rohde & Schwarz press office will be hosting a press day for journalists.
