Hole Drilling System suits catheter production.

Press Release Summary:

Operating on 110 V power and 80 psi compressed air, semi-automatic HPD-6 utilizes Omron PLCs and operator interface panels, Oriental Motors linear actuators, stainless steel cabinet, and precision machined components. Standard configuration allows drilling along 6 in. length of tubing, but is customizable for any length tube. Bench-top unit measures 24 x 24 x 19 in. and is suitable for clean room production environments. Up to 50 unique hole pattern programs can be stored in PLC.

Original Press Release:

Proprietary Semi-Automatic Hole Drilling System for Catheter Production

PlasticWeld Systems, Inc. of Newfane, NY announces the development of a proprietary semi-automatic hole drilling system for catheter production. The HPD-6 drilling system utilizes high quality components including Omron PLCs and operator interface panels; Oriental Motors linear actuators; stainless steel cabinet and precision machined components. The intuitive operator program enables virtually limitless combinations of hole patterns with distance and rotation inputs for each hole. Drilled tube slugs are ejected and captured with a novel blow-off and vacuum system. Multi-lumen tubes are positively oriented using our proprietary collet clamping system. Up to 50 unique hole pattern programs can be stored in the PLC.

A unique labor-saving variant includes a proprietary dual spindle that uses two drill bits. This enables placement of two different hole sizes in a tube with only one set-up.

The standard configuration HPD-6 allows drilling along a 6 inch length of tubing. The unit is customizable for virtually any length tube. This bench-top sized unit has nominal dimensions of 24" wide x 24" deep x 19" high. It operates on 110 volt electric power and 80 psi compressed air, and is suitable for clean room production environments.
