Hoist Drive Units offer 40 ton capacity.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for industrial cranes, Model GH 40000 comes in dual-speed version, which is powered by 5/20 kW asynchronous cylindrical rotor motor with torque transmitted by 3-stage aluminum parallel shaft gearbox. Unit is suited for lifting speeds of 2.6/3.3/4.2 m/min at drum diameter of 405 mm and 6/1 reeving. Speed-controlled version, equipped with 38 kW motor with encoder feedback, allows for lifting speeds of 4.9/6.2/7.6 m/min at 4/1-reeving. Both include wear-resistant dual surface safety-brake.

ABM Greiffenberger at CeMAT 2011

Compact and Powerful Hoist Drive Units for Industrial Cranes

For more than forty years ABM Greiffenberger develops and manufactures drive units for hoists and cranes and has in the meantime more than one million travel and hoist drive units for crane equipment in action world-wide. At CeMAT the company presents hoist drive units excelling by the compact design, high output and absolute reliability.
Manufacturers of cranes and hoists are offered a wide spectrum of travel and hoist drive units by ABM Greiffenberger fulfilling all demands of the application on output, safety and comfort. Even under unfavourable environmental conditions they achieve a long lifetime and assure sensitive positioning also at high through-puts as well as frequent starts and reversing.

With the new hoist drive unit GH 40000 a drive unit exactly tuned to the application is now available for up to 40t hoisting load at a 4/1-reeving for standard hoists.

Two base versions are available:

  • Dual-speed - robust & compact

  • Speed controlled - sovereign & powerful

Simple assembly by defined mounting interface

The first version is powered by a dual-speed 5/20 kW asynchronous cylindrical rotor motor manufactured at ABM Greiffenberger according to highest quality measures. The dynamic start-up curve assures high starting, pull-up and breakdown torques despite smooth run-up. The torque is transmitted by a three-stage aluminium parallel shaft gearbox allowing direct coupling of the drum.

This drive unit concept allows for an extremely compact design and very simple mounting without any further components since the rope drum is supported directly by the output shaft. The high grade helical gearing of the gearbox cares for low wear and quiet run even at high load. This version is suited for lifting speeds of 2,6 / 3,3 / 4,2 m/min at a drum diameter of 405 mm an a 6/1-reeving.

Highest output and efficiency with inverter drive unit

Even higher output and - at least as important - optimum efficiency achieves the crane manufacturer with the second version of the GH 40000 equipped with a 38 kW motor incl. encoder feedback. This hoist drive unit allows for lifting speeds up to 4,9/ 6,2/ 7,6 m/min at a 4/1-reeving. At the same time highest comfort is achieved from the operator's point of view, because the speed lifting and lowering the load is controlled continuously.

Low vibrant movement activity, precise handling

Important parameters like acceleration and deceleration ramps can be adjusted individually with these drive unit systems. The especially soft starting and braking characteristics of the drive units reduces load swings to a minimum. Thereby, the pre-condition for very exact positioning and settling of the load is also achieved. This drive unit- and control-technology is not only suited if high productivity is demanded, but also for gentle handling of delicate goods.

Both product lines - dual-speed as well as speed-controlled - are equipped with a wear-resistant dual surface safety-brake with fast excitement rectifier holding the load safely in the desired position and assuring vibration-free stopping. This brake intervenes automatically at mains failure. In the daily duty it is activated rapidly and is exceedingly durable and service reduced. A wear limiter shows the operator the need for maintenance, e.g. after one million stops depending on the working condition.

Crane drive unit technology from one source

With the new series ABM Greiffenberger extends the choice for national as well as international crane manufacturers: you will recieve a complete, highly efficient drive unit technology and can source travel and hoist drive units with all desired functions including control and brake from one source. Part of the Know-how of ABM Greiffenberger is also the customized development or adaption of drive units for the hoisting technology.

Also at crane travel drive units the user has the choice between PROFI-LINE (dynamic and low vibrant dual-speed drive units with multiple travel speeds) and AUTOMATION-LINE (variably controlled drive unit systems).

Additionally, with the "Drive Controller" a drive is available especially adapted to the demands of the crane technology. At the same time this system reduces the number of variations of travel drive units since different wheel diameters can be realized with one travel drive unit.

The classification of the ABM travel drive units in FEM-class 2m documents quality and longevity also resulting from the comprehensive experience of ABM Greiffenberger in the development of drive units for material handling.

Whether as helical gearbox or parallel shaft gearbox ABM travel drive units offer high output reserves due to the duty cycle of 60% ED. A splined output shaft according to DIN5480 cares for a safe torque transmission.

A comprehensive drive unit program for material handling

Besides the series GH 40000 ABM Greiffenberger also shows at CeMAT additional models of travel and hoist drive units for the crane technology as well as innovative solutions for roller conveyors.

Furthermore, the company of course also shows in Hall 26, Booth L 32 most up to date traction, pump and steering drive units for industrial trucks. In this likewise extremely challenging application area of the electromotive drive unit technology ABM Greiffenberger shows similarly large experience as in the crane technology.
