Hoffman announces the H2OMIT(TM) Thermoelectric Dehumidifier and UL 4X Listed Vent Drain, designed to protect sensitive electrical and electronic equipment from damage caused by condensation.

Anoka, MN-February 2, 2009-Hoffman announces the H2OMIT(TM) Thermoelectric Dehumidifier and UL 4X Listed Vent Drain, designed to protect sensitive electrical and electronic equipment from damage caused by condensation. The thermoelectric dehumidifier removes moisture from the air within an enclosure, continuously controlling condensation formation on components and the enclosure walls. As this moisture collects and pools, it exits through the one-way vent drain, providing a comprehensive moisture removal and elimination solution. Both devices are easily installed or retrofitted in metallic and non-metallic enclosures, minimizing condensation damage and maximizing component functional life-even in the most demanding industries and applications.

With Hoffman's H2OMIT Vent Drain, condensed moisture exits the enclosure using the force of gravity, and re-entry of water and outside contaminants is blocked with a mechanical shut-off. Additionally, the UL 4X Listed vent drain functions as an air pressure equalizer, reducing the harmful effects of temperature-induced vacuums that could pull water and moisture into the enclosure.

"Condensation materializes from a wide variety of sources in many of the environments and applications enclosures are exposed to, leading to corrosion, rust, harmful occurrence of arcing and sparking, as well as overall shortened component life expectancy," said Nathan Espinosa, Hoffman product manager. "While a variety of low-tech solutions-such as simply wiping out the bottom of an enclosure-are frequently employed to rid enclosures of condensation, even a small amount of remaining moisture can pose threats to sensitive components. At the other end of the spectrum, air conditioners and purge systems that utilize pressurized air, are often effective solutions but high in cost and impractical for many applications." Nathan adds, "The combination of the H2OMIT Thermoelectric Dehumidifier and Vent Drain affords users a way to continuously remove moisture from internal enclosure air, effectively remove pooled water from the enclosure and cost-efficiently protect internal components from the harmful effects of moisture-all while maintaining the enclosure rating"

The vent drain, which is approximately 2-inches long and 1.25-inches in diameter, is available in a corrosion-resistant non-metallic polyester material, or encased in 304 stainless steel. Non-metallic vent drains provide users a cost-effective and certified solution for removing liquids from mild steel, aluminum, non-metallic and stainless steel enclosures. The 304 stainless steel encased vent drain is well suited for stainless steel enclosures, providing the aesthetics and robust performance that these applications require.

Applications

The H2OMIT Thermoelectric Dehumidifier and Vent Drain remove and eliminate harmful condensation from within enclosures, providing a simple and cost-efficient solution for both indoor and outdoor environments in numerous industries, including:

o Food and beverage
o Water processing and wastewater
o Petroleum and chemical processing
o Outdoor applications

Several features of Hoffman's H2OMIT Thermoelectric Dehumidifier and Vent Drain make them particularly effective and convenient to use.

The thermoelectric dehumidifier offers:

o Continuous moisture removal from inside the enclosure
o DIN rail mountable for easy installation
o Simple mounting on the bottom of enclosure, directly above vent drain, without taking up panel space
o Operates on 24-volt DC; low voltage that can be used globally

The UL 4X Listed vent drain provides:

o One-way drain allows accumulated pooled moisture to exit the enclosure
o Mechanical shut-off blocks outside moisture and contaminants from entry into the enclosure
o Equalizes pressure within the enclosure, reducing the harmful effects of temperature-induced vacuums
o UL 4X Listed component, maintaining the enclosure type rating
o Non-metallic or 304 stainless steel models
