Invensys' Wonderware Business Unit Releases IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition Historian Software

Enterprise Edition Supports Microsoft Cluster Services and Store & Forward Capabilities

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Jan. 7, 2003 -- Wonderware, an operating unit of Invensys Systems, Inc., today announced the release of its IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition historian. The Wonderware IndustrialSQL Server real-time plant historian is the world's leading plant data historian, with approximately 14,000 installations worldwide.

"Wonderware is fully committed to providing the most complete range of high-availability functionality in the plant data historian market," said Jim Frider, product marketing manager for Wonderware's plant intelligence products. "Real-time plant information can power faster and smarter plant decisions, helping customers more effectively deliver on critical corporate initiatives such as improved asset utilization, plant productivity and world-class product quality."

The new IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition supports Microsoft(R) clustering services, which extend the application's high-availability capabilities. A cluster is a group of computers that work together to run a common set of applications and provide the image of a single system to the client and application.

"The IndustrialSQL Server Enterprise Edition historian can now support customers who rely on failover clusters to ensure that their plant data is available whenever they need it," Frider said.

Other high-availability features offered by the IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition historian include Server Store & Forward and remotely deployable data acquisition services, which help eliminate interruptions in data flow. These capabilities allow users to store data to a secondary server if the primary server goes offline and forward the stored data to the primary server without interruptions when the server is restored to operation.

As part of a Wonderware partnership with Stratus Technologies, the IndustrialSQL Server historian has also been qualified for the Stratus(R) ftServer(R) 3300 Series fault-tolerant server. These servers, combined with the IndustrialSQL Server historian, are ideal for environments where high-availability is critical. For more information about Stratus Technologies, go to www.stratus.com.

The IndustrialSQL Server historian is part of Wonderware's FactorySuite A2 ("A-squared) product line, which benefits from Invensys' ArchestrA technology. The ArchestrA industrial software architecture significantly reduces a plant's total cost of ownership through easy installation, operation, modification, maintenance and replication of automation applications.

The IndustrialSQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Edition historian is the latest addition to Wonderware's line of plant intelligence products, which help customers visualize, analyze and optimize their plant processes.
