Hirschmann DSRC Antennas Featured on Connected and Automated Test Vehicles at University of Michigan Mcity Test Facility Grand Opening

New DSRC Product Offerings Announced
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Hirschmann Solutions, a leading supplier of antenna and transceiver systems, is expanding its Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) antenna product family. The new offerings support industry and government initiatives to develop the next generation of vehicle technologies for safer, more efficient connected and automated mobility.
One of these initiatives is the University of Michigan Mcity Test Facility. With its grand opening on July 20, 2015, Mcity is the first-ever controlled environment for testing connected and automated vehicle technologies enabling driverless cars to reach the mass-market. The DSRC antennas were visible on several test vehicles during the grand opening event. Likewise, a vast majority of the approximately 3,000 vehicles deployed into the Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Test Environment from 2012-2014 were equipped with Hirschmann antennas.

DSRC antennas provide connectivity for short- to medium-range wireless communication channels designed for automotive use. Hirschmann's new antenna offerings enable connectivity for DSRC only, DSRC-GPS and DSRC-GPS-WLAN service configurations. Packaging options include screw-mount, magnetic-mount, adhesive and hook-and-loop attachments. Standard DSRC products are available now for ordering, with deliveries within standard lead times. Specialty configurations, such as Dual-DSRC-GPS-WLAN, are also available and will be quoted upon request.
