High Voltage Vibration Sensors resist EMI.

Press Release Summary:

Operating in harsh electromagnetic environments without signal loss or delays, HV Series includes 100 and 500 mV/g models for seismic monitoring that measure ultra-low levels down to 0.1 Hz. Sensing element is isolated from sensor base and casing to offset effect of high voltage and EMI often found in wind turbines and VFD/SCR controllers. For long-term stability, top-exit sensors have ceramic housings and hermetic sealing that provide isolation up to 6,000 V.

New High-EMI Resistant Vibration Sensors

Germantown, MD — Meggitt’s HV (high voltage) isolated sensors are designed for vibration monitoring in high electromagnetic environments commonly found near wind turbines, including the base and nacelle, and rotating machinery such as bearings, gearboxes. The rugged design and high performance components of the HV series ensure reliable operation in harsh electromagnetic environments without signal loss or delays.

The sensing element of the HV series is isolated from the sensor base and casing to offset the effect of high voltage and electromagnetic interference (EMI) often found in wind turbines and VFD/SCR controllers. The isolated pellet offers extra protection for internal electronics. Ceramic housings and hermetic sealing provide isolation up to 6,000 volts promoting long-term stability.

“The HV series offers outstanding resistance to high EMI events especially found in potentially charged atmospheres found near wind turbines,” said Peter Eitnier, Applications Engineer for Wilcoxon Research® sensors. “HV sensors detect changes in machine performance, which helps enable scheduled maintenance, equipment stability and continuous power generation in harsh environments.”

The compact, top-exit sensors are installed easily and are available in multiple configurations of M12 or MIL-5015 connectors, and M6, M8 or ¼-28 mounting. 100 and 500 mV/g low frequency models for seismic monitoring measure ultra-low levels down to 0.1 Hz. For superior electrical isolation, the HV sensors can be paired with the rugged 6Q, IP68-rated waterproof Viton® boot connector with multiple locking seals for secure connection.
