High Storage Capacity Thanks to High RFID Expertise

Innovative Cooperation: Schreiner ProTech together with Siemens has developed the first production-level UHF RFID label with a 4K chip on the market.

Schreiner ProTech together with Siemens has developed a new UHF RFID Label with a 4K chip (4 Kbytes) for Siemens' new Simatic RF600 reader generation that has been successful in the marketplace following its recent launch. The 4K chip offers 53 times more storage capacity than conventional RFID solutions.

The new UHF RFID label with a 4K chip is designed for end user applications requiring an elevated chip storage volume. Examples include complex processes in production control. In addition, it is used for permanent storage of production-relevant data on the product or transport container in the automotive and process industries.

The technology corporation had opted for Schreiner Group as its development partner for three reasons: the industry-specific process knowledge of Schreiner ProTech, the specific RFID label manufacturing know-how available at the Competence Center Schreiner LogiData, plus existing knowledge of suitable suppliers and cooperation partners.

Years of Experience: High Expertise due to Intensive Proprietary Developments.

The challenging functionalities specified by Siemens were already achieved after the initial measurement results, as well as the targeted market launch at this year's Hanover Fair. "As a result, we managed to present the first production-level UHF RFID label with a 4K chip on the market together with a new Siemens reader generation, as planned," says Klaus Müller, Product Manager RFID at Siemens.

For Michael Drollmann, Sales Director at Schreiner ProTech, this is another project that proves the company's high in-house expertise in RFID solutions: "For years, we've intensively been driving proprietary developments in this field together with our Competence Center Schreiner LogiData. We're delighted that we've now been able to successfully leverage this expertise in an important contract development for a leading technology corporation like Siemens as well."
