Epson Expands Lineup of USB 2.0 High-Speed Controllers

- TOKYO, Japan, May 19, 2008 -

Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") has developed the S1R72V27, the newest USB controller LSI product that is compatible with high-speed USB 2.0. Sample shipments have already begun. The S1R72V series of products have made it possible for users to connect to computers and download large files at super high speeds, and also tap into USB memory to transmit music data at high speeds. Furthermore, significantly extended battery life and reduced noise achieved through Epson's strengths in the area of low power consumption technology have greatly contributed to the development of mobile devices. The newly developed S1R72V27 is a faster version of the S1R72V17, which accounts for the largest volume of S1R72V series products shipped. While maintaining compatibility with the S1R72V17, the S1R72V27 also meets the many demands of the market.

Features of the new product

1. Compatible with high speeds

o CPU interface speed increased by approximately 30%

2. Supports portable media players

o Enhanced USB Host functions (supports isochronous transfer)

3. Supports in-vehicle applications

o Guaranteed operating temperature range: -40°C to +105°C (S2R72V27)

4. Low power consumption

o Power consumption comparable with the S1R72V17

5. Package and pin arrangement

o Compatible with the S1R72V17 (substitution with S1R72V17 is possible on the same substrate)
