CommAgility First to Ship AMC Boards with Highest Speed Texas Instruments DSPs

High-performance DSP and wireless applications targeted

Loughborough, UK

CommAgility announced today that its AMC-2C6678 and AMC-2C6670 DSP boards are now shipping with the fastest versions of the high-performance TMS320C6678 and TMS320C6670 digital signal processors (DSPs) from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI).

The CommAgility boards now use the 1.25GHz version of the C6678 DSP and the 1.2GHz C6670. With an increase of 25% and 20% in processor speed respectively compared to the more common 1GHz versions, the modules provide a valuable increasing in processing capability for demanding applications.

The two AdvancedMC modules are now also shipping with 1GB DDR3 SDRAM for each of the two on-board DSPs. The increased memory storage is a particular benefit in image processing applications, and enables customers to future-proof their systems.

Designed for a wide range of high performance applications including telecoms and image processing, the AMC-2C6678 is a high performance signal processing AMC card with 16 DSP cores and FPGA resources. It is powered by two Texas Instruments TMS320C6678 DSPs.

The AMC-2C6670 is a high performance signal processing AMC card for 4G wireless baseband and test equipment solutions, including LTE and LTE Advanced. It includes two Texas Instruments TMS320C6670 DSPs with an option for SFP+ connections direct to the AIF2 interface of one DSP to support CPRI. A GPS receiver for timing synchronisation is also available.

Both modules include an IDT CPS-1848 Gen2 SRIO switch, which provides a 20Gbps per port Serial RapidIO infrastructure. They also provide a Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA for additional I/O and co-processing flexibility. A gigabit Ethernet fabric is provided on the card to all devices and the AdvancedMC.

Edward Young, managing director at CommAgility, said, "Yet again CommAgility leads the market in supporting the latest and highest performance TI DSPs. This extra boost in processing power is going to be invaluable to our customers, enabling them to build cost-effective and power-efficient systems."

The AMC-2C6678 and AMC-2C6670 are shipping now. For pricing information, please contact CommAgility.
