High-Current Inductor features integrated e-shield.

Press Release Summary:

Saving board space by eliminating need for separate board-level shielding, Model IHLE-4040DC-5A contains electric field associated with EMI in tin-plated copper integrated shield, providing up to -20 dB of electric field reduction at 1 cm when shield is connected to ground. RoHS-compliant device features max DCR from 1.66–178 mΩ and inductance values from 0.47–47 µH. Housed in 4040 case size, AEC-Q200-qualified inductor is rated to 30 A and operates up to +155°C.

Original Press Release:

Vishay Intertechnology Low-Profile, High-Current Inductor Lowers Costs and Saves Space With Integrated E-Shield

Offered in 4040 Case Size, AEC-Q200-Qualified Device Provides -20 dB Electric Field Reduction at 1 cm

MALVERN, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today introduced a new automotive-grade low-profile, high-current inductor featuring an integrated e-shield for reduction of EMI in the compact 4040 case size. Lowering costs and saving board space in automotive and other applications by eliminating the need for separate board-level shielding for the inductor, the Vishay Dale IHLE-4040DC-5A contains the electric field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield, providing up to -20 dB of electric field reduction at 1 cm (above the center of the inductor) when the integrated shield is connected to ground. In addition, the four-terminal connection (two ground connection points for the shield) provides extra vibration performance for under-the-hood and chassis-mounted electronic circuits.

Featuring high-temperature operation to +155 °C and coplanarity of its four terminals of ≤ 100 µm, the AEC-Q200-qualified device released today is optimized for energy storage in DC/DC converters and high-current filtering for automotive engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, and HID lighting.

Built on Vishay's IHLP® technology, the IHLE-4040DC-5A features high efficiency with maximum DCR from 1.66 mΩ to 178 mΩ and a wide range of inductance values from 0.47 µH to 47 µH. The device provides rated currents to 30 A and handles high transient current spikes without saturation. Packaged in an RoHS-compliant, 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded construction, the inductor offers high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration.

Sample and production quantities of the IHLE-4040DC-5A are available now, with lead times of 10 to 12 weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery only starts at $0.45 per piece.
