Hifn and Galaxywind Team to Combat Internal Threats for Carrier and Enterprise Networks

China-Based Galaxywind Chooses Hifn's Network Processor to Power its High-Speed Security Gateway for Superior Routing Capabilities

LOS GATOS, Calif., July 2 / / - Hifn(TM) (NASDAQ:HIFN), the power behind network and information security, today announced that Galaxywind, a leading Chinese provider of routers, switches and networking products, has integrated the Hifn 5NP4G network processor into its new security isolation gateway, the Protium D2000. With the Hifn 5NP4G acting as the core processing unit, the D2000 can satisfy enterprise, core, edge networking, and Internet service requirements at wire speed for telecommunication and enterprise customers.

"Carriers and enterprises are accustomed to dealing with external threats using well understood technology like stateful firewalls," said Tom Moore, vice president of sales, marketing and operations for Hifn. "Today, evolving attacks have driven them to apply this same technology within their internal networks as well in order to effect data protection and reduce their risk. This is an emerging market that has its sights set on high-performance security solutions able to keep pace with increasingly faster WANs and data protection inside the LAN at gigabit speeds. With Hifn, Galaxywind can take advantage of our processing power to meet these new security needs and deliver complex functions, such as QoS, scheduling, flow control, and differentiated services."

Hifn's programmable network processor is optimized for packet processing at speeds up to OC-48. The 5NP4G implements copper interconnect technology and integrates a switching engine, search engine, frame processors, and multiplexed MACs. Powered by Hifn, the D2000 is a highly integrated security solution that includes: firewall, deep packet inspection, hardware accelerated VPN, routing, switch, QOS, Anti-DOS, bandwidth management, authentication, and high availability. Other features of the D2000 include a flexible interface card (POS OC3, CPOS, ATM OC3, 100BASET Fast Ethernet link, 1000 Base TX/SX/LX/ZX and WAN interface etc.), high speed, and 8Gbps full duplex system bandwidth.

"We chose Hifn because its network processor was the best product in its class for routing and security capabilities," said Zeng Yu, general manager of Galaxywind. "Based on Hifn, the D2000 security isolation gateway can satisfy any Internet service requirements. In today's competitive environment, we now feel better equipped to provide customers with a high performance solution that will meet the needs of the most demanding network forwarding applications."
