Hennig Division Offers Power System Enclosures, Fuel Tanks

Hennig, Inc., has announced the launch of a new division, Hennig Enclosure Systems. Based in Machesney Park, Ill., this new division engineers and manufactures enclosure systems for power generators. The systems are designed and built to meet today's demanding installation requirements and to provide reliable protection for power generation equipment.

The enclosure system product line encompasses four types of generator enclosures. The enclosures are available in many materials and provide sound attenuation to meet Dba requirements. The product line also includes five types of UL 142-approved fuel tanks, including secondary containment tanks, open-top dikes, closed-top dikes, freestanding day tanks and sub-base day tanks. All tanks come standard with a minimum 110 percent containment area.

Hennig's worldwide experience includes extensive manufacturing of sheet metal enclosure and tank products designed to protect both people and machines in a variety of environments. It has designed and made many enclosures for machine tools that required tight tolerances for complex operations.

Along with manufacturing experience come more than 30 years of combined engineering experience and extensive expertise in both enclosure product development and engineering of specific enclosure systems and tanks to meet unique requirements. Hennig engineers use the latest CAD 3-D modeling programs to develop enclosures, allowing them to build a virtual model of each enclosure before it is manufactured. With this capability, Hennig customers are able to see the finished product before the steel is cut.

"Hennig is excited about these new enclosures and tanks," says Mike Kinney, manager of the product line. "The combination of our enclosure construction experience and high-tech modeling programs allows us to deliver the product faster than anyone else."

Hennig's 86,600-sq.-ft. facility is equipped to manufacture large enclosures and tanks with shorter lead times than are currently available in the industry. The facility has three lasers that handle a material thickness of 1/2 in., a sheet size of 160 in. by 80 in. and metals such as galvanneal, stainless steel and aluminum; three press brakes up to 170 tons; a waterjet machine with a 12-ft. by 6-ft. bed that can cut all types of steel, aluminum, plastics and foam; and a powder-coat and wet-paint line. Hennig is ISO 9001:2000-certified and employs quality management and continuous improvement techniques to ensure the highest quality product.
