Henkel to Present Papers on New Reactive-Resistant Solution Acrylic PSA and Novel UV-PSA at PSTC Meeting

Bridgewater, NJ, April 20, 2009 - Henkel scientists will be presenting technical papers on the company's new reactive-resistant solution acrylic PSA for transfer tape applications and a novel UV-PSA for medical applications at the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council Meeting in Orlando, FL., in May.

"New Solution Acrylic PSA for Transfer Tape Applications" (May 13, Session I), by Eric Silverberg, Ph.D., of Henkel Adhesive Technologies, will provide an introduction to DURO-TAK(TM) RRP, a new acrylic polymer technology from Henkel that allows for the incorporation of high levels of crosslinking monomer in a stable, one-part system. This arrangement of more and stronger crosslinks provides a platform of wide formulation latitude.

In addition to wide formulation latitude, these polymers have a tremendous range in Tg, solubility parameter and functional group tolerance. This class of adhesives has shown particularly good adhesion to the new generation of automotive topcoats. The unique blend of molecular weight, crosslinking and formulation potential afforded by this approach can offer a strong balance of properties - maintaining cohesive strength while achieving high levels of peel adhesion and tack.

"Novel UV-PSA for Medical Applications" (May 14, Session IV), by Cynthia Cain of Henkel Adhesive Technologies, describes a newly developed class of radiation curable PSAs from Henkel that provide new medical adhesive opportunities in areas where current medical adhesives are limited in their performance. The UV-Polyurethane-Acrylate polymer base can be applied without solvents at low viscosities at temperatures below 100 °C. The modular pre-polymer system has a very low non-polymer content, as well as an extraordinary property profile.

Henkel will also be highlighting these and other innovative pressure sensitive adhesive technologies at its booth (303) at the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council's Exhibit Showcase in Orlando on May 14.
