Original Press Release:

Heavy-Duty Workstation from Creform®

In its continuing program of developing innovative material handling and ergonomic logistic solutions for lean manufacturing, the Creform® Corporation has introduced one of its latest structure designs...a high-strength, height adjustable workstation created with the Creform System. The Creform System consists of resin-coated steel pipe, joints and hardware accessories that allow users to easily design, fabricate and assemble lean, adaptive and ergonomic structures to meet specific application needs.

The new workstation incorporates Creform's recently introduced, heavy-duty 42mm diameter pipe, augmenting the system's standard 28mm dia pipe, providing added loading capacity and the versatility to build stronger structures while requiring minimal bracing and support members. The workstation features a 1,000-pound weight bearing capacity...ideal for operations where heavier components and/or sub-assemblies may be placed on the work surface, and to support larger, heavier inventories of parts and operator tools.

The high strength workstation features a powered height adjustment work surface that allows convenient, ergonomic positioning for operators of differing statures. In applications that have large and awkward pieces, the table's elevation adjustment can make access to varying work heights of large components easier and safer to reach. Workstations and assembly tables may also be constructed with stationary heights, or with manual adjustment mechanisms.

The new series of larger 42mm diameter pipe consists of three pipe styles, plus an expanded selection of more than 40 metal connecting joints and hardware accessories for use with the new size. The larger pipe allows users to design and build structures that are approximately 2.5 times stronger than the conventional 28mm dia pipe. In practical applications, this means structure spans of racks, workstations, carts and other material handling devices can be built longer with less bracing and support. Shorter spans can hold greater amounts. For example, a 28mm dia pipe supported at two locations 900mm distance can support up to 70kg (154 lbs.) applied at the center point before permanently deforming...the new 42mm dia pipe section of the same length can withstand up to 175kg (385 lbs.) under the same test conditions.

Among the pipe selections in the 42mm dia series is a general-purpose pipe, an ESD antistatic rated line, and a yellow w/black spiral high visibility pipe for safety railings, guarding, and barriers. Importantly, this safety piping provides a strength rating of up to 244kg (538 lbs.) when tested in the previously mentioned manner.

The joint options offered include connections for joining 42mm dia pipes into 'T' configurations, three-, four- and five-pipe corners, and adjustable angle connections. Several joint selections allow interfacing 28mm dia and 42mm dia pipe sections into single structures to maximize strength and economies. Typical accessories include pipe end caps, end plugs, and stanchion mounts for securing structure legs to floor using anchoring fasteners.
