Demilec Launches Heatlok ABS, The Industry's First Complete Air Barrier and Spray Foam Insulation System
Architects and contractors now have a single source for a spray foam air barrier system including insulation and transition membrane; Demilec Heatlok ABS System meets or exceeds industry performance requirements
Demilec, one of the largest manufacturers of spray applied polyurethane foam in North America, has launched Heatlok®Air Barrier System (ABS), the industry's first complete air barrier and spray foam insulation system.
"Until now, a single source of supply has been missing in the air barrier industry. Demilec has taken a much-needed systems approach to material testing and installation to now offer architects and contractors perfectly-matched spray foam insulation and air barrier materials that have been independently tested and approved as a single system," said Tom Harris, Vice President – Building Science at Demilec, which has supplied Heatlok insulation to millions of square feet of cavity wall applications throughout North America for more than 20 years.
"Previously, architects and general contractors were faced with conflicting information and no single authority about membranes and spray foam insulation. From concept to close, Demilec now provides the right level of input and experienced turnkey support needed to execute their design intent," Harris added.
Heatlok ABS products include Heatlok ABS Membrane (40mm) for summer and winter applications in 6"-36" widths, as well as Heatlok ABS Primer and Heatlok ABS Mastic, which are designed as a base for exterior insulation, used in conjunction with Demilec's Heatlok XT and Heatlok Soy 200 Plus spray foam insulation products. Additionally, the membrane can be used as the primary air barrier system under more typical insulations, board-stock for example, creating a solid airtight barrier against air infiltration and exfiltration thereby minimizing issues associated with energy loss and condensation.
Demilec Heatlok ABS has been fully tested by independent laboratories and exceeds the performance requirements of the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA), ASHRAE 90.1, the Canadian Government Standards for Insulation Material, CAN/ULC S705.1, Insulation Standards - CAN/ULC S705.2 and Air Barrier Assemblies - CAN/ULC S742.
Additionally, Demilec provides a manufacturer's inspection program and supports third-party independent inspections through the ABAA.
