Environmentally Friendly, Heat Resistant Apexior® Coatings Now Available For Marine Applications

Coatings offer VOC compliant corrosion protection

Apexior® protective coatings, developed for waterside corrosion prevention for surface temperatures up to 700oF, are now available in VOC compliant formulations. Apexior coatings are resistant to salt water, steam, and boiling water, and have solved difficult high temperature coating problems since 1917.

Apexior® Number 1® is a single component, easy to apply air dry coating specifically formulated for the protection of metal surfaces immersed in hot water at temperatures above 200oF (93oC). It protects the waterside surfaces of steam generating equipment, evaporators, steam turbines, diesel cylinder liners, boiler drums and tubes, steel-tube economizers, feed water heaters, and marine equipment where the internal surfaces are ordinarily hot and wet. The coating is unaffected by pressures and high temperature, and prevents pitting corrosion and scale deposits. Apexior Number 1 provides efficient heat transfer and long service life. The protective coating is regularly used in top boiler plants internationally, and is specified by many leading engineering firms. For long-range maintenance, coating deaerator welds with Apexior Number 1 will extend re-inspection intervals.

Apexior® Number 3® protects metal surfaces that are frequently wet or exposed to high humidity, or that are immersed in water up to 140oF (60oC). It provides basic, low-cost protection for metal surfaces that are difficult to prepare properly. It is recommended for marine service conditions where the use of more expensive high-performance coating systems cannot be justified.

Apexior protective coatings, manufactured by Dampney Company, Inc. of Everett, Mass., are available in gallon and 5 gallon pails, and in 55 gallon drums. For additional information and ordering options, visit www.apexior.com or email dennis@dampney.com.
