Healthcare Software helps build SSO and context management interfaces.

Press Release Summary:

Leveraging integral Bridges technology, users of Vergence Wizard can generate application interfaces to enable single sign-on (SSO), context management, and user provisioning for clinical and business applications in healthcare industry. Bridges may be generated for range of applications, including Windows, Web, and terminal-based, while point-and-click methodology presents each Bridge's capabilities as series of interactive animations mapped to pre-defined actions.

Sentillion Releases Healthcare 'Do It Yourself' Tool for Single Sign-On and Context Management Application Interfaces

Sentillion's New Point-and-Click Animated Wizard Provides Hospitals With New Options for Developing Application Interfaces Quickly and Cost Effectively

CHICAGO, April 6 -- HIMSS09 Conference & Exhibition -- Sentillion, whose identity and access management (IAM) solutions are the most widely implemented in healthcare, today announced the availability of the Vergence Wizard, the company's next generation tool for generating application interfaces to enable single sign-on and context management for clinical and business applications. The release of the Vergence Wizard gives healthcare organizations the power to assume total ownership and control of how single sign-on and context management is deployed and maintained hospital-wide through an extremely practical and cost effective "Do It Yourself" approach.

For over a decade Sentillion has addressed head-on the ever present challenge faced by healthcare organizations of how to quickly integrate clinical applications and add enhancements to clinical workflows. Through its pioneering Bridges technology, Sentillion offers flexible, extensible and uniform mechanisms for interfacing to applications in order to achieve single sign-on, context management or user provisioning. Bridges monitor and control the user interface of targeted applications as though they were the end users of those applications.

Originally Bridges were written by Sentillion as programs, requiring a technical skill set. Subsequently, Sentillion made it possible for customers to also write Bridges by employing an easier to use scripting language. More recently, Vergence BridgeBuilder provided a point-and-click tool for generating Bridges, but some additional scripting was generally required. The Vergence Wizard changes all of this.

Using the Vergence Wizard, organizations can easily generate Bridges for a broad range of applications -- including Windows, Web, and terminal-based. The Vergence Wizard employs a unique point-and-click methodology that presents each Bridge's capabilities as a series of interactive animations. Each animation sequence corresponds to a use case that the Bridge handles, such as dealing with expired passwords. Each sequence can be easily configured to meet the specific needs of each target application. Steps in a sequence may be added, removed, or rearranged, and entirely new sequences can be established for use cases not built into the Wizard. Furthermore, because the Vergence Wizard employees a visually rich and intuitive movie-editing metaphor, hospitals can look beyond their technical staff to "non-programmers" to generate application interfaces to achieve SSO and context management for applications within their Vergence environment.

"While the development of the Vergence Wizard represents Sentillion's commitment to healthcare IT innovation, the true value of this solution lies in the simultaneous ability it provides an organization to control costs and deploy quickly," said Paul Roscoe, president of Sentillion. "Having the ability to self-administer application interfaces empowers an organization to extend the benefits of SSO and context management to clinical and business applications without restriction, but most importantly, it also provides a way to tap into new 'non-programmer' personnel resources, which eliminates the potential for overburdening IT resources."

In addition to fast single sign-on and managing expired passwords and graceful termination of applications at sign-off, the new Vergence Wizard includes the following key features:

-- Support for single sign-on and patient context management use cases
-- Point and click interface to select application controls and associated actions for Windows and Web-based applications
-- Pre-defined actions, which include common navigation, text entry and event monitoring tasks such as Click, Enter Text, Select Menu and more
-- Integrated playback mechanism for testing individual steps, a subset of steps within a sequence or the entire sequence of steps that comprise a particular use case prior to placing a Bridge into production
-- Optional display of detailed logs during playback
-- Extensible interface simplifies insertion of custom actions and preserves customizations when regenerating the Bridge
-- Plug-in architecture enables extensibility to incorporate new actions and events and for accommodating new application development technologies

Sentillion will be demonstrating Sentillion Vergence Wizard at the HIMSS09 Conference & Exhibition in booth #743.
