Portico Systems Provider Platform Now Integrates CAQH Universal Credentialing DataSource

Effectively Manages Provider Rosters, Streamlines Credentialing and Improves Data Integrity

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 18 -- Portico Systems today introduced new capabilities to seamlessly integrate provider data from the CAQH Universal Credentialing DataSource(R) (UCD) service into the Portico Provider Platform.

This integration gives health plans an important new tool to dramatically drive down the administrative time, cost and burden of managing provider data.

Maintaining up-to-date provider data is one of the industry's biggest operational challenges. Manually credentialing, re-credentialing and updating demographic information is incredibly time-consuming, and can be riddled with errors. The Portico Provider Platform streamlines these processes, increases operational and staff efficiency, reduces training costs and errors, and ensures quality provider data.

Launched in 2002, UCD allows providers and other health professionals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to enter credentialing information, including their Type I National Provider Identifier, free of charge into a single, uniform online application. More than 400,000 providers currently participate in the provider data-collection service.

"Reducing provider administrative burden is our mission," said Sorin Davis, chair of the CAQH Credentialing Marketing and Communications Group. "Innovative solutions such as Portico's make the Universal Credentialing DataSource more valuable to both health plans and providers."

Health plans can direct Portico's Data Services Solution to exchange important provider information with CAQH as often as they need, and each plan controls the acceptance of extract information into its databases. This proactive approach helps plans easily exchange information with CAQH eliminating the need to enter and update provider demographic data.

Re-Credentialing Reinvented

"Most health plans have to re-credential practitioners every two years, which means tracking the doctor down, getting the information required and updating their database," said Sam Muppalla, COO of Portico Systems. "With CAQH's UCD data, our solution can eliminate nearly 40 percent of time spent on initial credentialing, and can save health plans upwards of 20 percent on re- credentialing costs, every year."

Portico is transforming how healthcare payers effectively manage end-to- end provider network operations and provider information. Its modular approach lets health plans easily integrate additional functionality, including NPI compliance and Web-based self-service tools for providers. This flexible platform creates a holistic and low-cost ongoing system for managing provider networks.
