HD Video Filter Amplifiers operate from single 3.3 V supply.

Press Release Summary:

Consuming only 9.5 mA of quiescent current per channel, and featuring low-power shutdown mode at 12 µA, models MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 suit applications in set-top boxes, A/V receivers, and portable equipment with HD outputs. Designed for YPbPr component-video signals, MAX9652/MAX9653 have fixed passband for HD video, while passband of MAX9654 is logic selectable between SD and HD. HD lowpass filter on all 3 devices has ±1 dB passband out to 42 MHz and 50 dB attenuation at 109 MHz.

3.3V, HD Video Filter Amplifiers Save Power in Set-Top Boxes and Portable Equipment

HD Video-Filter Amplifiers Save Power with 3.3V Operation

o The MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 are 3.3V, triple-channel, HD video filter amplifiers; the MAX9654 can be switched between SD and HD passbands.
o Tailored for energy-efficient designs, these devices consume significantly less power than competitive 5V video filters.
o To maximize power savings, these ICs operate from a single 3.3V supply and draw very little quiescent current.
o The MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 can be used to easily and economically support HD outputs in set-top boxes, A/V receivers, and portable equipment.

SUNNYVALE, CA-December 8, 2008-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9652/MAX9653/MAX9654 triple-channel, high-definition (HD) video-filter amplifiers. Tailored for energy-efficient designs, these devices operate from a single 3.3V supply, rather than the 5V required by competitive solutions. To further save power, they consume a mere 9.5mA of quiescent current per channel; the MAX9653/MAX9654 also feature a low-power (12µA) shutdown mode. These devices are simple, cost-effective solutions for set-top boxes, A/V receivers, and portable equipment with HD outputs.

Specially designed for YPbPr component-video signals, the MAX9652/MAX9653 have a fixed passband for HD video, while the passband of the MAX9654 is logic selectable between SD and HD. The HD lowpass filter on all three devices has ±1dB passband out to 42MHz and 50dB attenuation at 109MHz. The MAX9654's SD lowpass filter has ±1dB passband out to 8.5MHz and 57dB attenuation at 27MHz.

The MAX9652 is available in an 8-pin SO package, while the MAX9653/MAX9654 are available in 10-pin µMAX® packages. All devices are fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. Prices start at $0.48 for the MAX9652, $0.50 for the MAX9653, and $0.60 for the MAX9654 (1000-up, FOB USA).
