HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 19, 2007 -- Worldwide industrial services company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Europe-based Huennebeck access services division will provide shoring equipment to one of Africa's largest hydropower construction projects under a new sales contract valued at approximately $2 million over its duration, with the potential for further orders during subsequent stages of construction.
Huennebeck's equipment will support construction of the new 250 MW Bujagali hydropower facility, being built over the next four years on Uganda's Victoria Nile. The order is Huennebeck's largest-ever in Africa and reflects Harsco's stated strategies for expanding its Access Services footprint within the African region, where substantial infrastructure modernization is expected over the coming decade to support the region's emerging growth. Operating in 32 countries worldwide, Harsco's Access Services business group is the world's most comprehensive provider of scaffolding and concrete formwork equipment and services to the global construction and infrastructure industries.
Under the contract, Huennebeck will supply a range of equipment sold through its branch operations in Italy, including shoring systems as well as specialty brackets for construction of the facility's concrete dam as well as three new buildings on the ground.
