Hardened I/O offers point-level diagnostics.

Press Release Summary:

ArmorBlock MaXum(TM) I/O blocks provide device-specific analysis of faults and advanced warning of off-wire and short-circuit detection. These 16-input DC and 8-input/8-output 24 VDC, 1792D modules are software selectable via EDS parameters in RSNetWorx(TM) for DeviceNet(TM). Able to handle sinking or sourcing inputs, they include input circuitry that eliminates false inputs generated by sensors with high-leakage current. Modules combine adapter, power supply, and I/O.

Allen-Bradley® Hardened I/O Offers Advanced Point-Level Diagnostics

New ArmorBlock MaXum(TM) blocks bring device-specific analysis of faults - helping users make proactive decisions on the factory floor

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Oct. 29, 2002 - In response to end user demands for reduced downtime and maintenance costs on the factory floor, Complete Automation® leader Rockwell Automation today introduced new, advanced I/O blocks to its ArmorBlock MaXum(TM) family. The 1792D 16-input DC and 8-input/8-output 24 VDC modules have the ability to diagnose faults at the point-level, giving advanced warning of off-wire and short-circuit detection.

"Previously, end users were only able to access diagnostics at the connector level," said Tom Trombley, product manager. "For end users dealing with high-speed conveying, hazardous applications or costly inventory, I/O modules with point-level diagnostics can locate the fault quicker and avoid costly downtime and damage."

The 1792D modules are software selectable via EDS parameters in RSNetWorx(TM) for DeviceNet(TM), which allows them to handle either sinking or sourcing inputs. The input circuitry design of these new modules also eliminates the problem of false inputs generated by sensors with high-leakage current.

ArmorBlock MaXum is an industrially hardened, distributed I/O product that combines an adapter, power supply and I/O into one, industrially-sealed package. The On-Machine(TM) mount blocks meet or exceed IP67 and NEMA 4X/6P ratings, and are capable of withstanding a 1200 psi washdown. Also, ArmorBlock MaXum accommodates all DeviceNet media (round or flat cable), which makes it ideal for connecting DeviceNet devices.

The 1792D 16-input DC and 8-input/8-output 24 VDC modules are now available.
