Heavy-Duty Disintegrator Prevents Data Theft By Shredding Computer Hard Drives

WESTBORO, MA - The Model 22 HDD(TM) Hard Drive Destruction System from Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) prevents data theft by shredding used computer hard drives into unreconstructible irregularly shaped fragments. Up to 3½" standard drives can be destroyed easily and safely at a rate of 20 per hour. The system is also ideal for destroying many other items, such as hand-held electronic devices, computer backup tapes, and circuit boards. Custom units are available for the destruction of items such as books, bound documents, plastic bottles, and off-spec or obsolete products.
The unit's built-in conveyor automatically adjusts the feeding speed to prevent jamming. Up to 10 drives can be preloaded for automatic feeding. In the destruction chamber is a rotary knife mill - three knives mounted on a solid steel rotor and two stationary bed knives. The blades cut the waste until the particles are small enough to pass through a steel sizing screen. The user determines the approximate diameter of the particles (½", ¾", 1", etc.) by choosing the mesh of the sizing screen. Screens, the discharge chute, and the collection bin are all stainless steel so that drive magnets will not adhere.

Controls for the Model 22 HDD System feature complete safety interlocks, current sensing, automatic drive indexing, and motor control, all integrated for operation with a single push button. The system comes with a custom-made sound enclosure constructed of metal panels and high-density insulation to meet STC-40 standards. Overall dimensions are 86" high, 110½" deep, and 53" wide. The feed opening is 12" x 9". The standard motor is 20 HP (25 HP optional). Overall weight is 3600 lbs.
