Overview

You can put together a winning combination and satisfy mid-range to entry-level, data-storage applications when you install cost-efficient Ultra320 300 GB SCSI HDDs into your IBM eServer® xSeries® servers.

Take advantage of SCSI hot-swap and non hot-swap technology with 10,000-rpm HDDs to:

· Provide opportunity for large SCSI devices to be inserted directly into server systems
· Improve scalability to support future interface speed doublings

300 GB1 10,000-rpm Ultra320 SCSI HDDs

These high-capacity SCSI HDDs join the family of HDD offerings to satisfy a wide range of storage requirements. Each drive is contained in a 3.5-inch, 1-inch high, slim-line form factor that allows maximum installations in supported xSeries servers. They come in either hot-swap or non hot-swap versions and are engineered to support the entry-level enterprise server applications.

The 300 GB HDDs will function to support the new BladeCenter(TM) SCSI Storage Expansion Unit (26K4817).

Performance

300 GB performance characteristics include:

· SCSI drive to host interface - 320 MB/s burst rate
· SCSI drive Media to Buffer interface - Supports sustained interface data transfers of up to 89 MB/s
· 10,000-rpm spindle speed
· 2.99 ms average latency
· Less than 4.7 ms typical average read seek time
· Hot-swap capability

Reliability

· SCSI compliant - HDDs connect directly into server
· S.M.A.R.T Technology - Through use of software utilities can alert you of impending drive failures so replacements can be made before a problem occurs
· Rigorously tested through the ServerProven® program - Instills confidence that your xSeries storage subsystem2 is compatible and will function reliably
· One-year, limited warranty3

1 When referring to hard drive capacity, GB stands for 1,000,000,000 bytes. Total user-accessible capacity may vary depending on operating environments.
