Hanson Technologies, Inc. Introduces UltraRapid(TM) Food and Beverage Safety Solutions at Food Safety and Security Summit Expo & Conference

o Non-culture Technology is the Fastest, Most Comprehensive Detection Available

o Pilot Partners Now Being Sought for Final Field Validation

CARLISLE, Pa., March 6 -- Hanson Technologies, Inc., an innovator in UltraRapid(TM) food and beverage safety technology solutions, today introduced its Hanson Technologies Safe Vegetable Screening System (HSVS-1000), a patent-pending, end-to-end solution for the ultra rapid detection of pathogens in fresh-cut produce without culturing. The elimination of culturing -- associated with many hours of delay in waiting for results -- represents a major advancement in food safety screening.

The HSVS-1000 can simultaneously screen for multiple pathogens, allergens and toxins, including E.coli O157:H7 and Salmonella, in two hours or less utilizing large sample sizes. This integrated solution comprises proprietary technology, protocols, service and support to optimize food safety and quality throughout operations.

Along with the HSVS-1000, Hanson Technologies will also be highlighting its HLAB-5000 and HLAB-2020 biosensors at the Food Safety and Security Summit Expo & Conference, March 6 - 7, at the Washington D.C. Convention Center in its booth (#741).

"Hanson Technologies' UltraRapid(TM) food safety solutions are the fastest and most reliable non-culture solutions in the industry and set a new standard in food safety by reducing the screening window from 12 to 36 hours down to just two hours," said William P. Hanson, Ph.D., CEO of Hanson Technologies, Inc. "This incredible time savings provides a host of benefits including cost reduction, less complexity, elimination of storage issues, greater freshness, and the potential for QA at multiple times and at multiple points throughout the 'farm gate to dinner plate' value chain."

The Hanson Technologies Safe Vegetable Screening System (HSVS-1000) and Pilot Site Program

The Hanson Technologies Safe Vegetable Screening System (HSVS-1000) provides UltraRapid(TM) detection of multiple pathogens utilizing an automated process throughout food processing operations. For maximum safety and quality assurance, Hanson Technologies' solution enables both in-process and field screening without culturing. This includes:

o UltraRapid(TM) screening of "in-process" wash water used during in- plant processing operations

o UltraRapid(TM) screening of field-sampled vegetables prior to harvest

o UltraRapid(TM) screening of fresh-cut produce immediately prior to packing and shipping

Hanson Technologies is actively seeking pilot sites for validation testing of its Hanson Technologies Safe Vegetable Screening System (HSVS-1000). The pilot program includes a one-to-two week validation of the technology and on- site support as well as shared data.

Interested companies or institutions can contact William Hanson at 717- 245-9890 for more information on this opportunity.

"Hanson Technologies' full UltraRapid(TM) safety solutions will include services, training and data access," said Hanson. "For the pilot program, we are seeking working commercial validation of our technology in field situations."

At the Food Safety and Security Summit Expo & Conference, Hanson Technologies will also highlight two additional biosensors:

o Hanson Technologies' Biosensor 5000 (HLAB-5000) -- An automated bench- top solution ideal for research purposes in food pathogen screening, animal diagnostics, CWD testing, water safety and medical and bio-security applications

o Hanson Technologies' Biosensor 2020 (HLAB-2020) -- A semi-automated bench-top solution ideal for research purposes in food pathogen screening, animal diagnostics, CWD testing, water safety and medical and bio-security applications

According to The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 76 million foodborne illnesses occur each year in the United States, accounting for 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths. Further, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates the annual medical costs, productivity losses and costs of premature deaths due to the five major foodborne pathogens to be $6.9 billion.
