Original Press Release:

Meritech, Inc. Introduces Fully-Automated Handwashing and Compliance Monitoring System to Food Service Industry

The new CleanTech ELF(TM), designed especially for food service applications, offers the first fully-automated handwashing and hygiene compliance monitoring technology.

GOLDEN, Colo., July 24 / -- Meritech's new CleanTech ELF(TM) Automated Handwashing and Compliance Monitoring system offers the same advanced hand hygiene technology as the original line of CleanTech® equipment, but with a smaller footprint, making it ideal for food service, retail and hospitality environments. With the compact size and easy installation, the customizable system can easily replace a traditional hand sink.

The touchless system performs a fully-automated ten-second wash, sanitize and rinse cycle. Using Meritech's proprietary CHG-based sanitizing solution, the single cycle continues to kill germs for up to 6-hours. The FDA certified CHG sanitizer contains mild skin conditioners to improve skin health while removing dangerous pathogens.

By making handwashing quick and easy to perform, the CleanTech ELF increases staff compliance to a hand hygiene program. The system further boosts compliance by ensuring a pleasant, uniform handwash using high-pressure water jets that perform a consistent wash-and-sanitize cycle every time the machines are used.

According to industry studies, the CleanTech technology virtually eliminates transient pathogens from the hands and increases the frequency of employee handwashing by up to 300%. The CleanTech ELF is also shown to use up to 75% less water than manual handwashing, discharge 75% less wastewater, and reduce waste in soap utilization - thus decreasing operating and labor costs.

In addition, handwashing compliance can be measured automatically. Patent-pending radio-frequency identification (RFID) employee badge reading technology, combined with data-reporting software, provides restaurants and similar facilities with automated monitoring and reporting of handwashing events.

"We're committed to helping achieve a hand hygiene regimen in the food service industry to further prevent the spread of foodborne illnesses," says Jim Glenn, CEO of Meritech.
