The Wagner Companies Introduce New Aluminum Extruded Brackets to Meet New ADAAG and Building Code Requirements

Milwaukee, WI ? The Wagner Companies has announced that an addition has been made to its product line ? the new extruded aluminum handrail brackets will now offer a 1 ?? horizontal and vertical clearance to meet code requirements and the recommendations of the International Code Council (ICC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG).

The ICC and ADAAG Section Advisory require that the space between a wall and a handrail must be 1-1/2 inches while NFPA 5000 requires this space to be a minimum of 2-1/4 inches. Additionally, there is a requirement that ?horizontal projections shall occur 1-1/2 inches (38mm) minimum below the bottom of the handrail gripping surface.?

The new Wagner extruded brackets are available with a 2-1/2 or 3-1/4 inch centerline. When used with 1.50 inch diameter tubing, the bracket with a 3-1/4 inch centerline projection will meet the NFPA 5000 2-1/2 inch clearance requirement.

These new extruded brackets are available with a square or rounded wall mount design and a universal saddle appropriate for mounting round or flat railing sections. They are produced for aluminum alloy 6063-T52 which is suitable for anodizing.
