Original Press Release:

Truly Portable 3.3 GHz & 8.5 GHz Handheld Spectrum Analyzers for Quick & Precise Spectrum Analysis

Yorba Linda, CA April, 2009 - B&K Precision's new family of full featured handheld spectrum analyzers consists of three models: Model 2650A with a frequency range of 50 kHz to 3.3 GHz, Model 2652A, identical to the 2650A but with a tracking generator added, and Model 2658A with a frequency range of 50 kHz to 8.5 GHz. With a compact size of 6.38"W x 2.80"H x 10.43"D, a light weight of only 4 pounds (1.8 kg) and an extended battery life of 4 hours, the 2650A series of Handheld Spectrum Analyzers are the most versatile portable solution for field use.

Expanding on the success of its "2008 Product of the Year" Award winning 2652 spectrum analyzer, B&K Precision has incorporated many customer suggestions in developing this new, enhanced family of products. The EN-genius network (www.en-genius.net), a popular engineering site, granted the award and recognized the analyzer for "Best Price versus Performance Factor in Handheld Instrumentation". Numerous improvements include a larger color LCD with increased resolution, a longer battery life of up to 4 hours with an easy-to-replace Li-Ion battery, a lower average noise level of -127 dBm, a significant increase in RF input damage level and an addition of a USB interface for PC connectivity. Additionally, new features such external trigger capability for zero span measurements and a USB host interface for flash drives were added.

User benefits of these enhancements are increased flexibility in displaying a large variety of signals, ability to detect smaller signals, improved protection of RF input against excessive RF signals and added convenience for field use.

Key features of the 2650A series include frequency coverage up to 8.5 GHz, built-in tracking generator (Model 2652A), channel/adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, electric and magnetic field strength measurement functions, PC software for remote control and documentation of measurement results, convenient Auto Tune function and SCPI-like remote control commands.

Ease-of-use, measurement flexibility, and unequaled portability make the 2650A series spectrum analyzers ideal for a variety of applications including:
  • Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of wireless communications systems such as W-CDMA/CDMA, GSM, WLAN, WIMAX, and Bluetooth.
  • Detection of signal interference and undesired emissions
  • TV and broadcasting
  • Antenna alignment
  • Electric field strength measurement with optional dipole antennas
  • Magnetic field strength measurement with optional magnetic field probe

    Pricing and Availability
Available for immediate delivery, the Model 2650A Handheld Spectrum Analyzer is priced at $6,450, Model 2652A is priced at $8,450 and the 2658A is priced at $10,995. All three instruments come with user manual, AC adapter, soft carrying case, accessory pouch, PC software and USB cable, Li-Ion battery and a two-year warranty.
