Handheld Meters assess electronic, process control devices.

Press Release Summary:

Used on bench or in field, U1701A capacitance meter and U1731A/U1732A LCR (inductance, capacitance, resistance) meters let engineers perform one-touch measurements, test tolerance, and record values. Two-in-one functionality of U1401A calibrator/meter lets engineers characterize process-control devices while on-the-go. Suited for validation, troubleshooting, or maintenance, it offers simultaneous source-and-measure capability as well as DMM measurement and recording functions.

Agilent Technologies Introduces Handheld Instruments for Electronics, Process-Control Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 3, 2009 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced four new handheld instruments that provide greater convenience on the bench or in the field. Three are handheld capacitance and LCR (inductance, capacitance, resistance) meters that are attractively priced, giving more engineers easy access to component testing. The fourth is a handheld multi-function calibrator/meter that provides two-in-one functionality, equipping engineers for on-the-go characterization of process-control devices.

Engineers in components manufacturing or electronics assembly are often asked to share a bench LCR meter, which is practical but sometimes inconvenient. By extending the tradition of Agilent's industry-leading benchtop models to a lower price point, the new Agilent U1701A capacitance meter and U1731A/U1732A LCR meters let engineers perform quick, basic measurements at their convenience. Key capabilities include one-touch measurements, tolerance testing (with visual and audible indication), value recording (with minimum, maximum and average), and a dual display.

In a factory or in the field, the calibration of process-control devices often requires concurrent measurements with a digital multimeter (DMM). The two-in-one functionality of the Agilent U1401A handheld multi-function calibrator/meter lets technical staff travel light when doing calibration for validation, troubleshooting, or service and maintenance. Key features include simultaneous source-and-measure capability, full-span DMM measurement and recording functions, and a backlit dual display.

"This expansion of our handheld line beyond DMMs and scopes brings greater convenience to a broader range of applications," said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Basic Instruments Division. "These introductions are further evidence of our ongoing commitment to bring Agilent-quality measurements to cost-conscious engineers, technicians and educators."
