Vaisala Hand-held Meter - Measures Moisture in Oil

July 2004: The Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-held Moisture Meter MM70 quickly and efficiently measures the moisture content of oil. The MM70 is an ideal tool for preventive maintenance of oil filled systems. Real time measurement eliminates the wait for laboratory test results. The measurement is reported as water activity, which accurately indicates the margin to free water formation within the oil.

The MM70 probe withstands pressure of 150 psig. A ball valve allows the probe to be inserted directly into a pressurized pipe or vessel. The sensor is compatible with most types of oil and hydraulic fluid.

The MM70 features a menu-based, graphical user interface and a backlit LCD display. Measurement parameters can be numerically displayed or shown as a trend line over time. Data can be logged into memory for future download to a PC. It uses a rechargeable battery or AC line voltage. An optional aluminum case with a cable pass-through protects the MM70 indicator from inclement weather when it is used outdoors for short-term data-logging.

Two probes can be connected to the MM70 simultaneously. Additional probes for measuring dewpoint temperature (down to -60°C) and relative humidity (0 ...100%) are also available. All calibration data is stored in the probe, making it completely interchangeable. Maintenance personnel find this versatility extremely useful in the field.
