Cryptolex Trust Systems Unveils New Approach to Secure Identity Verification

Launches new authentication technology that combines biometrics and cryptography to enable secure communications and ensure absolute proof of identity.

Owings, MD -October 23, 2006 -- Cryptolex Trust Systems, a leading developer of identity and trust solutions to protect people, property and organizations, today launched Mobio, a new handheld authentication solution designed to replace all other access devices including passwords, access cards, tokens and PINs. Mobio's proprietary technology combines the power of cryptography and security of portable biometrics to enable a high-security identity system for voice verification, information sharing and network and physical access control.

Recent online and offline security concerns have demonstrated that passwords, cards, tokens and single-factor authentication solutions alone cannot adequately address today's growing need to more accurately verify identities to ensure both information and physical security. Yet, current strong authentication systems have posed interoperability and manageability challenges for organizations that have created complications for users and slowed widespread adoption.

Mobio is one universal ID designed to access all points in an organization creating simplicity, efficiency and security. What makes the Cryptolex system unique is its backend server-to-server integration that enables Mobio to be used concurrently for building/door access, network login, VPN, and web applications. While Mobio looks similar to an authentication token or fingerprint reader, it is based on a newly developed technology that leverages cryptography to create a strong backend trust solution that can be utilized within an organization or across legally separate entities.

"Identity verification is one of the biggest challenges facing organizations of all types as we increasingly rely on digital systems for everything from everyday transactions to military applications. While we know that password security is weak, many obstacles exist to widespread adoption of stronger authentication methods, ranging from privacy concerns for users to integration challenges for organizations," said Clovis Najm, CEO and founder of Cryptolex Trust Systems. "Cryptolex was founded to address the complexities associated with strong authentication systems and we have created a new solution in Mobio and u.ID that not only offers the highest levels of security, but also greatly simplifies the process of identity verification for both users and administrators."

Using Mobio, an organization can have an employee use one device to prove their identity when accessing a building, joining a sensitive teleconference, logging into their corporate email account or to demonstrate their authorization to download sensitive files from the corporate server. Its flexibility comes from its unique design, which leverages biometrics and cryptography to convert individual fingerprints into dynamic numbers, called Biocodes. Mobio Biocodes are completely random numbers that never repeat, are only valid for a few seconds and are legally binding digital signatures that can be logged, tracked and audited. Biocodes are designed and distributed in such a manner that replay and man-in-the-middle attacks are effectively eliminated. Unlike traditional biometric-based solutions, Mobio is completely portable, does not require central storage of biometric information and Biocodes can be used anywhere a password is required, even if no network connection is available. There is no threat of identity theft or fraud if Mobio is lost or stolen, as it cannot be unlocked or misused by an unauthorized user and will only generate a Biocode based on the owner's specific fingerprint.

Mobio is the flagship product behind Cryptolex's Universal ID System (u.ID(TM)), a flexible combination of hardware and software components that power a number of identify verification applications, which include:

Voice Control - Provides absolute identity verification for telephone and radio communications in a solution that is more accurate than voice recognition. With Voice Control, organizations can share classified and sensitive information via phone or radio and verify that the person on the other end is who they claim to be. This application runs on existing hardware, no network or computer connection is required and it provides log function for regulatory compliance and audit trail.

Document Control - Provides absolute identity verification for secure document exchange and is an alternative to e-mail attachments and FTP servers. Document Control does not rely on already secured channels, runs on existing hardware and UNIX platform, offers remote VPN access and provides log function for regulatory compliance and audit trail.

Network Access Control - An identity verification solution for secure access to internal and external networks, eliminating the need for multiple IDs, passwords and access devices. Cryptolex's Network Access Control is available over open and closed channels, runs on existing platforms such as Windows, Linux and Solaris and is scalable to several different networks within an organization. This solution utilizes industry standard cryptography for secure authentication and transmission between access points. Also offers log function for regulatory compliance and audit trail.

Physical Access Control - An identity verification solution that provides secure access to buildings and eliminates the need for multiple IDs, passwords and access devices. Cryptolex's Physical Access Control solution integrates into existing infrastructure and legacy systems, works in conjunction with existing proximity card systems and provides log function for regulatory compliance and audit trail.

Available today, Cryptolex's Universal ID System leverages Mobio to enable organization-to-organization collaboration, provide a legally binding audit trail that meets compliance requirements and ensure security is maintained whether a transaction takes place via telephone or Internet.
