Hand-Piece and Work-Stand meet high thermal demands.

Press Release Summary:

Used with MX Series power supplies, MX-HPDC Dual Cartridge Hand-Piece with MX-WHPDC Work-Stand meet high thermal demands of conduction soldering. Applications include microwave shields, heavy block type housing and tabbing, preheat applications, BGA removal, cell phone shields, and industrial lugs and leads that require additional thermal energy during critical phases of flux activation and intermetallic bond formation. Five SMTC dual-shaft cartridges are available in 2 temperature series.

Metcal Develops New Hand-Piece to Meet Higher Thermal Demands

GARDEN GROVE, CA -- Metcal is pleased to introduce the new MX-HPDC dual cartridge hand-piece and MX-WHPDC work-stand. Designed to meet higher thermal demands, five new SMTC dual-shaft cartridge geometries also are available in two temperature series.

The success of conduction soldering depends on the availability and controlled flow of thermal energy into the connection during two critical phases – flux activation and intermetallic bond formation. Higher thermal demand applications such as microwave shields, heavy block type housing and tabbing, preheat applications, BGA removal as an alternative to convection, cell phone shields, and industrial lugs and leads require additional thermal energy during these critical phases.

To address these challenging applications, Metcal has developed the MX-HPDC dual cartridge hand-piece with the MX-WHPDC work-stand for use with the MX series power supplies, along with a new series of five SMTC dual-shaft cartridges. The cartridges are available with 700 and 800 series heaters.
