Metabo 1/2" Hammer Drill Provides High Performance and Versatility for Wide Range of Applications

West Chester, PA, September 2003 - Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for various industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced a new 1/2" hammer drill that can be used for drilling into nearly all materials, from concrete and brick to wood, steel and plastic.

The new SBE660 hammer drill features a 5.8 amp motor, and has a 2-speed gear train that enables the operator to choose the specific drilling speed for the material, allowing for a wide range of uses and applications. The hammer drill has a no-load speed of 0-1,000/1-3,000 rpm, offers 0-57,000 no-load blows per minute, and has a maximum tightening torque of 142 inch-lbs.

The hammer drill has a die cast aluminum gearbox that dissipates heat for longer tool life, and is equipped with a 360° side handle to optimize user comfort. A gooseneck shaped depth gauge maximizes drilling accuracy, particularly when setting anchors.

The new SBE660 incorporates a winding protection grid that deflects airborne debris away from the armature windings, increasing motor life in dusty environments by up to five times than that of tools without such protection. Metabo's Variospeed full-wave electronic speed control allows for infinite speed variations, from the lowest speed to the maximum. The speed reduces as the load increases; the lower the selected tool speed, the quicker the tool will stop.

Drilling capacity is 5/8" in concrete, 1/2" in mild steel, and 1-3/16" in softwood. The SBE660 hammer drill is 13" long and weighs 5.9 lbs. A 1/2" chuck, depth gauge, and chuck key are all offered as standard equipment.
