Metabo's New SBE1010 Plus Hammer Drill

1/2" Keyless Chuck on Metabo's New Hammer Drill Makes for Secure Bit Clamping and Quick Bit Changes

WEST CHESTER, Pa., January 2007 -- Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, now offers a new 1/2" hammer drill for increased productivity in a variety of drilling applications.

The SBE1010 Plus features a 1/2" Futuro Top keyless chuck, which makes bit changes quick and easy and ensures secure bit clamping. Under extreme conditions, with Metabo's Vario Tacho Constamatic (VTC) speed stabilization, the hammer drill increases efficiency by working at nearly 100 percent of the no-load speed right up to the full rated amp load (8 amps). In addition, Metabo's "Service Minder" light signals to the operator when it is time to change-out the tool's carbon brushes.

Useful for drilling holes in steel, wood, concrete block, brick and solid concrete, the SBE1010 Plus has a capacity of 3/4" in concrete, 5/8" in mild steel and 1-1/2" in softwood. The hammer drill's side handle can be rotated 360° and is ergonomically designed to counteract the torque of the tool when drilling into hard materials, giving the operator greater control of the tool to drill straighter, rounder holes.

Metabo's S-automatic safety clutch in the SBE1010 Plus helps to limit kick-back in the event of a bit jam, and the tool's double insulation reduces the chance of electric shock. The winding protection grid and long life motor with an epoxy resin-coated field extend the life of the tool up to five times and protect against abrasive dust, while the overload protection sensor safeguards the tool from overheating under extreme loads.

The SBE1010 Plus has an input rating of 1010 watts and a maximum tightening torque of 248 inch-lbs. It offers two speed ranges: a no-load speed of 0-900 RPM or 0-2600 RPM, and 0-50,000 no-load blows per minute. It is 13 3/8" long, weighs 6.9 lbs. and comes with a 1/2" keyless chuck and carrying case.
