Hamilton Sundstrand's MC-21 Systems Move to Joint Definition Phase


FARNBOROUGH, England - FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW - Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), is successfully working with Irkut Corp. to develop systems for the company's new MC-21 aircraft family.

In 2009 Irkut selected Hamilton Sundstrand to supply multiple systems for the MC-21 commercial aircraft family including the Advanced Electric Power Generating System, Secondary Electrical Power Distribution, Auxiliary Power Unit, Wing Anti-Ice and the Nitrogen Generation System. In addition, Hamilton Sundstrand teamed with NPO Nauka to jointly develop the Integrated Air Management System, while Kidde Aerospace & Defense, a Hamilton Sundstrand subsidiary, was selected to supply the Fire Detection and Suppression System.

These awards are expected to be worth approximately $2.3 billion over the life of the program.

Slated to enter service in 2016, the MC-21 is Irkut Corp.'s newest aircraft model, accommodating between 150 and 230 passengers in three basic versions.
