Hamilton Sundstrand Airbus A380 Systems Readied for Production Certification and Service Entry

PARIS, June 20 -- PARIS AIR SHOW -- The software packages of Hamilton Sundstrand's largest-ever A380 Air Generation System (AGS) will complete production certification support reviews with airworthiness authorities next month in preparation for the aircraft's entry into service later this year with Singapore Airlines. In addition, Hamilton Sundstrand's Airbus A380 Cabin Pressure Control System, Ventilation Control System and Avionics Ventilation System are expected to complete final entry-into-service standards in early July 2007. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

"Many of our systems for the Airbus A380, including the Air Generation System, Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer Actuator, Ram Air Turbine and Auxiliary Power Unit, are the largest and most powerful ever built for a commercial aircraft," said Hamilton Sundstrand President David P. Hess. "We are pleased with the systems' performance during flight test, and excited for the A380's entry into service."

The A380 Air Generation System uses twin air generation units in a Hamilton Sundstrand-unique "pack-and-a-half" architecture arrangement. The AGS provides heating and cooling temperature control and ventilation for more than 800 passengers with a focus on maximum cabin comfort.

Hamilton Sundstrand's Nord-Micro business in Frankfurt, Germany, a long- time Airbus supplier, developed and manufactures the Airbus A380 Cabin Pressure Control System, Ventilation Control System and Avionics Ventilation System. All three systems have achieved type certification.

Hamilton Sundstrand also provides the Engine Control System, including the Full Authority Digital Engine Control, fuel pump and metering unit for the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine; and the Fuel Pump and Gearbox System for the Engine Alliance GP7000 engine.
