BASF to Highlight New Halogen-free, Flame Retardant Polyurethane at Interwire 2009

WYANDOTTE, MI, March 19, 2009 - BASF, the world's largest supplier of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), is introducing Elastollan® 1190 A 10 FHF, a new halogen-free, flame retardant grade of TPU for wire and cable applications. The new offering will be introduced at the Interwire 2009 trade exposition, April 25-30, at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Additional benefits of the new TPU are excellent abrasion resistance, low temperature properties, hydrolytic stability and fungus resistance. The new TPU series can be formulated for extruded profile, sheet and film applications.

The new halogen-free TPU complements the current line of BASF halogen-free materials that are available in a broad range of hardnesses (80 Shore A to 54 Shore D), has a tensile strength of 25 MPa and elongation at a break of 550 percent. The TPU can be used in wire and cable applications for transportation, agricultural equipment, electronics, recreational vehicles and more.

Information on Elastollan TPU materials for wire and cable applications can be found at the booth of BASF's exclusive wire and cable rep organization, T & T Marketing, at booth 1973. Additional information can be found at www.elastollan.com.
